knitting

Hey everyone! It’s been a while since I posted, as usual, but I wanted to let you know that I have been knitting! I have been working on a rectangular shawl, using the Feather and Fan stitch (Old Shale Lace.) I’m using alpaca yarn called “Peru”, by Blue Moon Fiber Arts. This is the yarn that Jeremy gave me for my birthday…last year? I was originally planning to make Shoalwater Shawl, but I saw another, rectangular shawl in the same stitch and decided that a rectangular one would work better for keeping my arms warm. So I just used a stitch found on the Internet and came up with my own pattern. Simple enough.

I am using Addi Turbos for the first time. They are quite nice. I won’t be buying a lot of them, as I can’t afford that, but it will be nice treat every once in a while. I told Jeremy I had bought a pair of Addi needles and he said something like, “Oh, the Addi Turbos? Nice!” He also knew about Yarn Harlot being in town before I did. How did this happen? It is cool, though. :)

I added the pattern for the Roxie Soap Bag. It has been test crocheted by my little sis, Christen, and passed. She even said nothing needed changing, so I guess I get an A. There is no picture at the moment, but I’m hoping to get one up eventually. It works up so fast though, if you want to know what it looks like, just make one.

Last Thursday, June 7th I finished up my flower dishcloth, shown alongside the double woven cloth. I also made these stitch markers for my dishcloth swap pal. I like that the photo captured the iridescence of the smaller beads. Both cloths were sent off to my pal on Monday, along with the markers, soap and some chocolate.

I finished the dishcloth for my secret pal and have started another using the Flower Power pattern by Whimical Knitting Designs. Each petal is knit separately, then joined in the round for the center. I’m using bright pink Sugar n’ Cream yarn and so far have two of the five petals knit. I’ll get a photo of the cloths together once this one is done.

I also made some stitch markers for a different swap last Thursday, the 10th. I lost one of my double point needles and another knitter offered to send me an extra of hers. In exchange, I used blue and white beads and wire to make her some stitch markers.

I’m working on a dishcloth in white and shades of pink, using the Darrell Waltrip pattern. You are most likely lost at this point, so I will explain. ;) The stitch is called “Double Woven” and the designer used those initials to name the pattern after her favorite NASCAR driver. Do a search and you’ll find a lot of pretty dishcloths named for this man. (who I know nothing about by the way, I just liked the pattern) Wonder how he feels about having dishcloths named after him? LOL I would bet he is at least a little amused.

I finished the Mary Jane hat today! Yay! I like it a lot. I would recommend the pattern, it’s pretty easy to knit, but make sure to thread a lifeline every few rows, in case you drop a stitch. I dropped stitches several times, and in this slippery yarn it was a good thing the lifeline was there because they can fall fast.
