A hoodie for my older brother’s iPod, using Merino Style yarn in the color Asparagus. Started November 15, finished November 21.
To see a detailed list of my changes click “more” below the photo.

Pattern changes:
Provisional cast on to make the stitches running front to back under the base continuous. You will be left with one less stitch as a result. Just leave a slightly longer tail and, after removing the temporary yarn, thread tapestry needle and bring yarn from front to back over needle. Secure this new stitch close to it’s base by running the needle under a purl “bump” on the wrong side. Reasoning: Cleaner lines.
1×1 ribbing around the sides and front at the top of the body. Continue with stockinette on the back 14 stitches. Before knitting your ribbing, increase one stitch. I just did a yarnover increase in the center front and twisted it to make it tight. This makes your total number odd (25), so you’ll get a knit stitch at both ends. I was going to keep it at 24, then noticed the purl stitches showed on one side on the back. Reasoning: a) This opening should be stretchy. You’re going to be reaching in repeatedly. b) The item is for a guy. They generally need a little more wiggle room.
Garter instead of slip stitch edging, two stitches wide. Start with the shoulders, right after the body is complete. Reasoning: Flap and shoulders will lay flatter.
I stitched the pocket on instead of knitting an actual pocket. I just like it better this way.
I used a ssk decrease on the right side of the hood. Reasoning: It makes the decreases look the same on both sides.
Snaps instead of Velcro.
Tip: A golf ball works well for blocking the hood. It’s just the right size!

Hey Erica - thanks for visiting my blog. I wish I could email commenters, but I can’t. Oh well.
I like that you’re calling the iPod covering a hoodie. Cozy just seems so, so tea-like. HK.

That is one crazy-lookin’ iPod! The yarn matches it so well. I might have to make one of these for my iPod (which has been taken over by my hubby, who uses it while running) now that the weather’s getting colder. Wouldn’t want it to get a chill, poor thing!

Hey! I just got my RAK and couldn’t dig up your e-mail addy anywhere (I’m always losing those things), so I’ll just thank you here. The yarn is AMAZING - thank you so much! And the smelly stuff is very nice, too. And of course the sticker rocks. I have a full commentary on my blog today. Thanks, darlin’! I love it all!
