October 2005

These are my first toe-up socks. I used Wendy’s toe-up sock pattern. Only one pattern change: I knit into back loops when hiding the wraps in order to prevent holes. (This may not have been necessary, as I figured out later I was picked up my purl wraps the wrong way) The yarn was a birthday gift from my younger sister. Magic Stripes, in the Sea Blue colorway. Started October 8th, finished October 24th. Note my cute new Dr. Marten Mary Janes…just bought them Saturday expressly for the purpose of showing off my hand-knit socks!

Surprise! A project I’ve been knitting in my spare time with yarn from a swap at the Knitty Coffee Shop. I shipped off a coffee table/inspirational knitting book that I would probably never use called Knitting in America and received this yarn in trade. Unbiased is the first pattern I have made from Knitty, although I’ve been reading the site since the beginning. It’s quick, fun and easy to make. Yarn is recycled sari silk. Finished: October 9, 2005.
