I had been looking for a wallet to match my white canvas purse, but despite driving all over, checking various stores, I never found one. In fact, out of dozens of stores, I only found a few white wallets and they weren’t in the style I was looking for. (a few were shiny leather and screamed “posh” and another was too cheap and punk.)

After searching locally and not-so-locally, I decided to make my own. I used a medium-weight cotton leftover from a top I made a few years ago. The design is my own and meets the criteria I was looking for: Simple, thin and casual. My five most-used cards fit snugly at the bottom, secured with an elastic cord and button closure. Under the triangle-shaped flap lies a pocket for holding cash and/or a bit of change. It turned out looking like an envelope quite by accident, thus the name “Envelope Wallet.” It measures approximately 3.75 x 2.25 x 0.25 inches.
